"This is an iconic photo, and probably THE most well-known image from the SAS wartime era. So, I HAD to paint it.
I met quite a lot of the those 'L' Det men and became good friends with Johnny Cooper (John Murdoch Cooper) MBE DCM and especially Reg Seeking (Albert Reginald Seeking) DCM MM. I used to go up to Suffolk and take him out to lunch. The stories he told me were fascinating.”
