This is a cartoon-style take on the well-known military phrase “No Comms, No Bombs” – full of that nonchalant, tongue-in-cheek forces character. On the surface, it shows a bloke rather chuffed, having just called in some spicy explosive ordnance bang on target, now casually strolling off like a legend to the next job.

In the forces, this saying is a simple truth: if you’ve got no comms – generally a two-way radio – and need to call in support when things go sideways… you’re knackered. The lesson being, you’ve got to fight for comms – whether that’s troubleshooting the kit, relaying the message, or legging it to high ground for a better signal. Hence: No comms, no bombs.

But there’s a deeper message. At its core, this piece is about communication – both professionally and personally. In a military sense, it’s vital to keep the lines open to get the support you need. In everyday life, it’s no different: when we’re struggling, opening that line of communication can be hard work – but it’s the only way things start to get better. It takes more courage than we often give ourselves credit for – and it helps more than we realise.

Reach out, talk, get support.
